Live in Eastgate House – Friday

Picture of the readers

Anna, Sarah and Sam read extracts from the Seventh Traveller

The sun was shining down on old Rochester, as day one of the Dickens Festival commenced. Our intrepid readers are pictured reading extracts from ‘The Legend of Swift Nick’.

Swift Nick Nevison was a gentleman and a highwayman. He rode 200 miles in one day from Gads Hill to York, a feat wrongly attributed to Dick Turpin. In this extract, Dick Turpin and Nick Nevison are arguing in a bar.

Seventh Traveller pages in local artist’s book

A picture of pages from the book

Pages from the book, by Nikki P Photography

Local artist Peter Reeds  had the marvellous idea to leave a number of sketchbooks in the Deaf Cat for anyone who fancied it to fill in. The only rule was: there were no rules as to what you could put in it.

We made a few Seventh Traveller pages – have a look and see if the books are still in the Deaf Cat. There are lots of other creative and interesting things in the book, so you may need to grab a coffee while you browse!
